Match Preview

Atletico will visit the RCDE Stadium, Espanyol's headquarters in the 4th match of the La Liga 2021/22 Jornada, Sunday (12/09/2021) at 5:30 p.m. Indian time.

Atm performed quite well this season. Currently, the club nicknamed  Los Rojiblancos is in the fifth position in the standings with a collection of 7 points from 3 matches played.

Atm opened the first match with a 2-1 win over Celta Vigo, then won 1-0 against Elche in the second match. But unfortunately, in the third match, they experienced a little difficulty and were only able to achieve a 2-2 draw.

Atm itself gained additional strength with the return of Antoine Griezmann. But on the other hand, they had to lose Saul Niguez who moved to the English team, Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Espanyol, who is a promoted team this season, has not performed well. City rivals FC Barcelona are currently in sixteenth position in the standings with a collection of 2 points from 3 matches that have been played.

In the first and second matches, Espanyol always won 0-0 draws against Osasuna and Villarreal. Then in the third match, Espanyol narrowly lost 0-1 during a visit to the headquarters of RCD Mallorca.

Atm and Espanyol last met in the 2019/20 La Liga season which took place at the RCDE Stadium. In that match, the two were only able to draw 1-1. Espanyol had taken the lead through Stefan Savic's own goal in the 24th minute. However, Atm was able to equalize through Saul's goal in the 46th minute.

If you look at the performance of the two teams this season, Atm will of course be more favored over Espanyol in this match.

However, Atm still has to be vigilant considering they have a poor record in the last few away matches to Espanyol, which is never win in 3 matches (W0 D1 L2).
